Your terrace or balcony needs a structure that looks good and handles the Chennai sun. I design pergolas that act as the perfect roof for your outdoor room.

I love the detail in this hand-woven bamboo pergola. It provides about 80% shade from the sun and is protected with a polycarbonate sheet, making it both beautiful and practical.

This is one of my favorite designs, a European-style "all white" pergola. The clean, horizontal lines create a modern and sophisticated look that completely elevates this beautiful terrace.

Another look at the woven bamboo ceiling. The natural material and intricate pattern create a stunning visual effect, especially with the modern black light fixtures we installed.

For this project, we created a unique Santorini-themed pergola with a blue roof and square cutouts. It lets in beautiful patterns of light while providing shade and a pop of color.

A view from below of the clean, white slatted ceiling of the European-style pergola. It gives the space a bright and airy feel while providing full coverage from the sun.

The simple, strong lines of the white pergola frame against the house. This style is incredibly versatile and works well with modern architecture.

About Custom Pergolas & Shade Solutions

A pergola needs to do two jobs well: provide cooling shade and stand up to the local weather. I often use a combination of woven bamboo or UV-resistant slats topped with polycarbonate sheets. This setup gives you that beautiful, natural look without sacrificing protection from the rain or intense sunlight, ensuring your outdoor space stays usable all year round.

Choosing the right pergola starts with how you want to live outdoors. Some clients want a bright, European-inspired white frame that makes a balcony feel like an extension of the living room. Others prefer the warm, textured look of hand-woven bamboo. Both are beautiful, but they serve different moods.

Technically, I focus on the structural integrity of the frame. We use Mild Steel (MS) box sections treated with anti-corrosion primer and high-quality paint. This is essential for our climate. Without this, even the prettiest design will rust within a couple of seasons.

When it comes to the roof, I almost always recommend adding a layer of polycarbonate. This is the secret to a space that stays cool. It blocks direct, harsh sunlight while still letting in that bright, airy glow. For the Santorini-themed project you see in my gallery, we used specific cutouts to play with light and shadow, which completely changed how the balcony felt at different times of the day.

What I love about this work is how a structure defines a space. Before the pergola, a terrace is just an open slab of concrete. After, it is an outdoor room where you can have morning coffee or host friends in the evening. It is about creating that separation from the indoors so you can finally enjoy the fresh air.

I am a big believer in getting kids and parents away from screens and into nature. My goal is to build you a space that makes you want to step outside, whether that is to enjoy a quiet coffee or just find some peace in the shade.
